Jeriome Robertson
There are many contenders for the title of worst Showdown card of all time, but few can even compete with the 2004 Showdown sets Jeriome Robertson. Look it up and be amazed, as his chart looks fairly decent with 19+ homers and great offensive potential and...wait...Robertson was a pitcher. Oh no...oh dear...Well, nevermind.
Jeriome was drafted by the Astros and in 2002 he completed his minor league journey and debuted. His chart here was just as terrible as his official Showdown card, but its a bit understandable with his tiny sample size. He'd become a starter in 2003 and despite being bounced up and down to the minors, he started 31 games, won 15 games and receive Rookie of the Year votes. He also gave up 23 Home Runs, had an ERA over 5.00 and produced the worst possible card for a Starting Pitcher when the official Showdown card game came out for 2004.
In 2004 the Astros brought in Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte, making Robertson more than expendable, and he found himself traded to Cleveland. There he'd find little use, and all out of the bullpen. Yet again you see he gives up homers on his own chart.
During the season, the Indians traded Robertson to Montreal, who would leave him in the minors. He'd sign on with a couple other teams over the next couple seasons, but never again pitch in the majors. After a couple more seasons in the Independent League, he'd walk away from baseball. In 2010, Jeriome Robertson tragically died in a motorcycle accident.
On a side note, I've noticed one similarity between all of the Showdown originals who have died as I've been making these memorial posts...what is it about people who played for the Houston Astros during the late 90s and early 2000s and how they die so young?
