1973 Hall of Fame

 The tragic passing of Roberto Clemente caused the Hall of Fame to make a rare exception to waive the waiting period for a player to be voted on. He easily passed the special election to join Warren Spahn and the Veterans Committee selections to gain posthumous entry to the Hall. Lou Gehrig was the only other exception prior to 1973.

Billy Evans (Umpire) - Youngest Umpire to call both a Major League game (22 years old) and a World series Game (25). Pushed for better training for Umpires and innovated tactics that were later implemented for all Umpires.
